Hola Wes! Estás bien? Espero que si! Hace tiempo que no se te ve por acá. Se te extraña... Un abrazo! Germán, Lomas de Solymar, Uruguay
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO
What kind of wood did you use? Where do you buy it?
The art of woodworking is equipment, tools. You have the tools you can make anything. Great video though, it kind of makes one want to invest thousands in the tools needed.
Nice design and video. One question - what is the reason to use construction adhesive instead of waterproof wood glue like Titebond III ? Trying to understand. Thanks.
Thanks for the awesome things you produce. I know you work with your own plans, however, are you ever going to start selling plans. I just moved to Oklahoma, and I am thinking the bench would sell if I made a few. Problem is I think I am allergic to Pine. Probably cost a little more, but I really like working with all kinds of Oak Wood. I have been practicing using a Router the way you do, and it sure does make a better design. I need to ask; does it ever damage the router or the bit?
Hi...currently I am not selling plans. This bench would look great in oak or other hardwood. Router bits do get dull with use but can be sharpened. Sounds like you are off to a great start. Wes
Best one I’ve watched/ and going to try your guy’s method
Great...I am sure you will do well. Thanks for watching, Wes
this is beautiful!
Very nice!
Watching this again. Made one of these recently. And made another that was a different size but similiar.I couldn’t remember which one I got inspiration from for the smaller one. This was it. Great video. It helped me get mine made.
Very good...I really appreciate the comment. So glad it was helpful, thanks! Wes
This just sets its off.
How deep is this cabinet?
Hi...the measurements are included in the video. I believe its 12". Thanks, Wes
Are you able to do your wooden floors the same exact way??
4:20 If you have a tenon cutting jig, you can use it to make these cuts a lot cleaner, and a lot safer as well. Using a tenon cutting jig will also allow you to make all four cuts (with the grain) on each piece, WITHOUT having to reset your fence, and without worrying about having to hide the place where you had to make a previous cut. There are countless videos here on UA-cam that show you how to build one for your shop, often times, they can be made with scrap pieces of lumber. One last note, I think you said that you used construction grade 2x4s from your big box store to build this, I would suggest looking just a little bit deeper, to where they're selling 2x4 and 2x6 ceder. It's very close in price to the common SPF construction lumber that you used here, but ceder is weather resistant, and it looks a lot nicer. As for finishing projects like this, teak oil is always the way for me, it gives the wood a very nice warm glow. In the Spring when I take them out of the garage, I give them a quick pressure wash, let them sit in the sun for 2 or 3 days to completely dry, wipe on another coat of teak oil, and they look great for the entire warm weather season. I really like the way this turned out, and it's a lot stronger than any of the other planters I've seen.
Thank you for your comment and his great suggestion on the teak oil finish. Wes
I just subscribed. Can I just say that you have a wonderful way about you. Your voice and demeanor just pulled me right in and I think you’re an excellent teacher. I am a new woodworker of two years and I was listening intently on everything and never once got bored. Plus you weren’t condescending, you sounded like a very good teacher- thank you for this video. I will go watch your other stuff hoping to learn
Thank you very much for you kind words. So glad the videos are helping. Welcome to our community! Wes
Might come as a shock but most beginning woodworkers do not own a planer.
Really nice...I am going to make something similar for my counters and cabinets that I'm also making. It's awesome to see end results when you create with your own hands
Do you leave the edges once they are sanded or do you coat them with something to match the prefinished sides?
Man, you make it look so easy. I love your method of the accordion style clamps. It's so simple. I wish I could come up with easy innovated tricks like that.
I thought you shouldn't put a perch because predators can use it to get at the occupants?
You are dangerous with your saw! YOU SHOULD NEVER CROSS ARMS while operating a miter saw. Your arm came in contact or dangerously close to the blade guard.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I’ve watched several of your videos on this technique, I am doing white cabinets with a brown glaze and I am looking for a topcoat that will not yellow. Which topcoat do you suggest?
Hi...I use pre-cat lacquer. Thanks for watching, Wes
Another idiot showing us how not to use a table saw. Good job, now I know who to blame after the goverment bans new table saw sales.
Honest question: why all that sanding in the beginning, if the obvious way is to use paint remover (stripper)? You definitely know this method, so why all this unnecessary labor? You did say something about the thin layer of the finish, but that still doesn't compute.
Very well done Wes
Love this. I'm making one
Where can I get that roller tool that you finished with?
Excellent! Very educational.
All good & nice build! Like it! But the brackets that hold the ring are sticking in passed the inner hole? This will interfere with the bags dropping through the hole?
Not time consuming??!! And that's if you happen to have all the right equipment! Beautiful job though.
Looks amazing but far too much work specially if you are doing all the furniture in the house
Pine 2x4s? Yeah, they'll last maybe one season. Maybe.
He put the Teflon tape backwards for a thumbnail or to get people mad 😂😂
I appreciate the way you teach. It has helped me improve my skill.
I would have painted the new bar PM gold like the old one. Nice job.
Where can I find out what sort of paint gun can be used for what types of material? I have a fence that needs a water seal applied but I also have an RV that needs a skirt repainted (lends to auto body level of painting). LOL, I don't want to end up with multi paint guns for single jobs!
Excellent design! And an excellent instruction! I appreciate that you shared it. I've already tried to make this, but mine didn't turn out as nice. Mostly because of my desktop jointer. It has limitations, especially at 45°. But I think I have a work around for my second attempt, I'll use my router table and a 45° chamfer bit. We'll see (fingers crossed, prayers uttered)! But I did have a question regarding one spec you never mentioned. What was the thickness of your maple and black walnut?
Good job as usual Wes. I have commented before about you wearing a watch, but like some else has commented on you not wearing a dust mask or respiratory. A dust extraction attached to your sander does not take 100% dust away. Please look after your health Wes.👍
ça m'énerve les vidéos hyper blabla. les meilleurs discours sont les plus court
Thanks for the detailed mfg of drawer. I just installed drawer self closing sliders and found that the drawers mfg in or about 2002 and they didn’t cut a grove for the drawer bottoms. They are ok for now but how could I replace the ¼ inch bottoms that they stapled to the drawer vertical sides. I feel the configuration I have is weak. I don’t have all the tools you use but I do have an old Sears table saw and other less sofisticated tolls.
Hi...I feel confident I can help you, however, it would require more than just a brief comment. Go to woodworkingwithwes.com where you will find an opportunity for me to provide you a complete, personalized video for your project. Thanks, Wes
We call tis Clickbait. So Misleading as many YT Vids.I call BS. The time + materials is just the start. One has to figure in time of labor, nevermind the overhead at this point. So much BS, Nice video but not realistic from a money stand point.
great work Wes, That Peruvian walnut sent me looking for some chocolate.
Nice!
Wes my man your work is fantastic and I appreciate it, But where are the plans? Thanks for sharing
wirebrush with grain, paint, sand, black furniture glaze, wipe, dry for hour, sand to highlight grain, blow dust away, spray laquer/polyurethane to finish
I love this video.
@woodworkingWithWes what size and length of crown staples do you use?
Would it work to use two sheets of melamine and place the butt joint at a miter slot? That way the top would be seamless at the actual business end. I assume you are gong to extend those slots to allow the miter gauge tools to fully pass.
